Michael Francis Stanich, 74, of Tallmadge, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2024, after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born on March 29, 1949, in Akron, Ohio to Michael and Mary Stanich.
Michael served and honorably protected his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart. He was also the recipient of multiple honorary medals.
Michael had a fulfilling career with Asplundh Tree Experts. He was dedicated to his work and made a positive impact in his field.
In his free time, Michael looked forward to spending time with his church family at the First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge. He was a lifetime member of the church and found solace in their community. The highlight of his week was having lunch with his daughter Michelle Stanich and friend Rose Stanich after Sunday service. He loved reading in the sun with his canine companion, Laney, he enjoyed watching movies of various genres, and taking long walks.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Michelle Stanich, and his sister, Pat (Ron) Lamp. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He also remained a close friend of his first wife and first love- Rose Stanich. Other close longtime friends that held a special place in his heart are David Cogar, Noel Mintern, David Hymes, Doris Ralston, and Maria Moralesplata.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Naomi Stanich (Ballard), his father, Michael Stanich, his mother, Mary Stanich, his sister, Julie Dahlke, and his brother, David Stanich.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a service at 1:00 pm at the First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge, located at 199 South Ave., Tallmadge, Ohio 44278. The service will be officiated by Pastor Kenneth Bulgrin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Apostolic Church of Tallmadge, as Michael held great reverence for his faith and community.
