Michael Tomko
Michael Tomko, 83, is walking, leaping and praising God. He is now casting his crowns at the feet of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mike was born April 21, 1922 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years during WWII. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Firestone Park. He was the faithful husband to the love of his life Pat, as well as the absolute best father God could ever give to Kim and Diane. He was the example of Jesus to all who knew him. He was kind, gentle, no- judgemental, compassionate and hysterically funny. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Patricia A. Tomko; two daughters, Kim and Diane Tomko both of Akron; sisters, Julie Johnston of Stow, Pauline Rice of Toledo; one brother, Walter Tomko of Akron; sisters-in-law, Nancy, Margie (Dan) and Jeannie; brothers-in-law, Earl (Jackie) and Jim; a host of nieces and nephews. His family will meet him in eternity, he will be deeply missed on earth. We love you Mike & Papa. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 12 p.m. with Rev. Phil Hulgin officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service begins. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family extends its gratitude for the love, compassion and care of Kim Marks, Rose Yurick, Karen Reddick, the Kovachs, John & Brenda Staton, and the nurses and aides at Tuscora Park Care Center. He fought the good fight, he finished the race and Mike kept the faith. Now there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness.
