The Late

Sister Michelle Denise McKee-Smith was born to the late Minnie Ruth Dees and the late David McKee on February 20, 1973 in Rochester, New York. She joined the Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member until she relocated to Akron, Ohio in 1998. Later she joined Standing in the Gap Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Georgia M. Stephens. She united in holy matrimony to Jason Smith, Sr. on October 15, 1997 and to this union one son was born, Jason Smith, Jr. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Porsha McKee, Darreasha McKee and Dominique Tolbert of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Jason Smith, Jr. of Akron, Ohio and Jabria McKee of Trumbull, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Braylen, Xa'Cari, Kansas, Dominique, Daniyah, Dahlia, Logan and Dantonio; sister, Sandra U. Dees; mother-in-law, Carrie Smith; two sisters-in-law; one niece, Jazze Dees of Akron, Ohio; and one nephew, Markquis Dees.

One nephew preceded her in death, Jordan McCormick; as well as her parents, Minnie R. Dees and David Mckee; grandparents, Elzonia Dees and Jeppie Dees; great-grandparents, David and Lee Ivory Dees; three aunts, Rose (Johnny) Seay, Elmyra Smith and Margaret Ewings; and favorite cousins, Fred Ewings, Jr. and Bridget Dees.

The family of Michelle Denise McKee-Smith would like to extend a special thanks to all of her wonderful cousins and for every act of kindness, prayers and encouraging words towards them during this time of sorrow.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 15th, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Georgia Steven.
