Mike Berezonsky
Mike Berezonsky, 88, of Akron, passed away on June 17, 2013. He is now together again with his beloved wife, Stephanie. Mike was born in Dixonville, Pennsylvania on November 21, 1924 to the late Metro and Anna Berezonsky.
Mike moved to Akron from Cairnbrook, Pennsylvania 70 years ago to take a job as a machinist at Firestone. Over the years he advanced at the company and spent more than twenty years as a supervisor before retiring in 1985. He also worked as a supervisor at steel companies for six years.
In his free time, Mike loved to hunt. He also enjoyed camping and mushroom picking. He loved to travel and tinker around the house. Mike fought bravely through many illnesses and was a hero to his family. He was a member of St. Mary Orthodox Church where he served as a trustee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, as well as his brothers, Nick, Metro and George Berezonsky; and sisters, Catherine Cote, Mary Morganti, Helen Kerlik, Nancy Brown, and Betty Newcomb.
Mike will be deeply missed by his children, Mike Berezonsky Jr. and Annette (Jerry) Stover and his best buddy, Trouble; sister, Eva Wolonsky; brother, John Berezonsky; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday June 20 from 5-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Prayers will be said Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 11:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 91 S. Arlington St., Father Myron Zuder officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
