Mildred "Millie" Barnes (nee Boggs)
Millie Barnes, 87, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2013 with her daughters by her side. She was born in Akron on October 13, 1926. Millie was the eleventh of twelve children born to Harry and Bertha Boggs. She was a devoted member of The Chapel for over 60 years.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Barnes; and sons-in-law, Bob Thornburg and Jerry Bates. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Carol Thornburg of Green and Christina Bates of Springfield Twp.; grandchildren, Tina (Shawn) Pace of Luxembourg, Luxembourg and Traci Thornburg of Brentwood, Calif.; she was "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, Hannah Pace and Finley Pace; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends.
Visitation will be Friday, October 25 from 5-9 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service with Rev. Jerry Harpool and Rev. Mike Costelli officiating will be Saturday at 12:00 noon with visitation for one hour prior at The Chapel Green Campus, 1800 Raber Rd., Green. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Chapel or Haven of Rest.
