Mildred Louise Weaver affectionately known as Millie, age 90, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2021 following a short battle with cancer.
Millie was born on September 16, 1931 in Springfield Township, Ohio to the late Orval and Marybelle Snyder. In 1952 she married Richard "Dick" Weaver. Millie and Dick spent over 52 years together and enjoyed countless family summer vacations in Myrtle Beach before he proceeded her in death on March 19, 2004.
Millie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and true friend, and found utmost joy in being a grandmother and great grandmother. Millie was a founding member and cherished part of the Crossroads Church family in Akron, where she worked in the administrative offices and passionately sang in her church choir for many years. Millie retired from The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after many rewarding years of service.
Throughout her life, Millie was known for her beautiful smile, generous hugs, and infectious laugh. She never met a stranger who didn't quickly become a friend. Millie embodied a servant's heart and lived a life dedicated to those around her. Even in the weeks leading up to her death, Millie enjoyed weekly breakfasts with her "crew" and was able to celebrate her 90th birthday with her twin brother Milton, surrounded by those who loved her.
Millie will truly be missed in this life, but her family takes comfort in the fact that she is now ever joyful in the presence of Jesus.
Among those who will cherish her memories include her beloved daughter Maribeth (Christopher) Vince, grandsons she raised as her own children Michael (Angela) Weaver, Luke Weaver,and her grandson Christopher Vince; three great granddaughters: Brooke Weaver, Charlotte Weaver, and Grace Weaver; her brothers Milton (Dorothy) Snyder, Ron (Valory) Snyder and Jerry (Betty) Snyder and treasured friends she considered family.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Millie's life at Grace Church Akron East Campus, 737 George Washington Blvd Akron, OH 44312 on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Millie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer society.
