Min. Jay Jones Iii

Min. John Jay Jones III, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born on July 28, 1948 in Akron, Ohio to John Jay II and Theresa Jones. John was recently employed by the Akron Public Schools system until his death. He loved fishing, hunting, watching movies, listening to jazz, preaching the Word of GOD, and teaching Sunday school and Bible study. John was a stranger to no one. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. John's favorite Scripture was II Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lettie Jones and Saddis Shambry.

John is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Trina O (Thompson) Jones; children, Michael, Mark, Jones, Jay Michael, Shontaya Spooney, Bridget (Cyril) Clayton, Trina, Tiffany Davis, David, Tiara, and Charise Robinson; brothers and sisters: Gladys Shambry (John), Alfred (Deloris) Shambery, Gloria (Fred) Cleghorn, Larry Jones, George (Linda) Jones, and Theresa (Clifford) Fennell Jr. ; 17 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved pet Uno - Top Dog.

Family will receive friends on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church,1241 Grant St., Akron, Ohio 44301. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Curtis Minter officiating and Pastor Mark Neal eulogizing. Condolences may be sent 1276 Diagonal Rd. Akron, OH 44307.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
