Minnie R. Coomes

Minnie R. Coomes, 96, of Akron, passed away March 16, 2016. Minnie was born in Greensboro, Alabama on April 26, 1919 to the late John W. and Ida L. Griffin. She was a long-time member of St. Sebastian Parish.
As the most special birthday gift a wife could give her husband, Minnie reunited with her loving sweetheart Richard Coomes in Heaven. She was also preceded in death by her son, James "Jimmy"; and siblings, Lillian, Gordon, Thurman, and Rose.
She is survived by children Elizabeth Farmer, Charles, Bobby (Lois), Ron (Janet), and Steve (Kay); 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
The family wishes to thank Crossroads Hospice, especially Marie, Brittany, and Charlotte for their exceptional care, and all the other nurses who cared for her.
Visitation hours from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave., Akron, OH 44320. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
