Mose L. "Whitey" Penix
Mose L. "Whitey" Penix, age 82, passed away on August 25 with his daughter Michelle at his side. He was born May 13, 1922 in Martin County, Kentucky to the late Seymore & Callie (Boyd) Penix. Mose proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Roadway after 31 years of service. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle ways - always putting the needs of others before his own. Mose was a devoted husband and father. Mose was a wonderful, loving grandfather and his grandchildren were the light of his life. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Rosetta, Jeanetta and Ella; and brothers, Jack, John and Wick. He is survived by his wife, Molly (Fannin) Penix, whom he married in 1945; daughters, Michelle Zizka (Jonathan) of Mogadore, Karen (Joe) Cybak of Columbus; sons, Larry (Sam) Penix of Hartville, Ken (Lynne) Penix of Brimfield; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Haley Crum, Estelle Pack; brother, Herbert Penix. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bernard Christy officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park with Mogadore V.F.W. Post 8487 providing military honors.
