Nancy D. Cathel

Nancy D. Cathel, born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 6, 1936, passed away in Akron on December 24, 2006. A lifelong resident of the Akron area, Nancy was a member of Revere High School Class of 1956. She obtained her L.P.N. from NEOUCOM and she took great pride in serving as a nurse and was a member of the NEOPMAA. She helped her community by serving as a Guardian ad Litem for Summit County Juvenile Court where she touched countless lives just as she did in her everyday life. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, George and Myrtle Rogers; her siblings, Elizabeth "Betty" Perko and Robert "Bud" Rogers; sons, Thomas Jr. and Steven Cathel. She will be greatly missed by survivors including her husband of 37 years, Thomas Cathel; siblings, Edward "Ned" (Louise) Rogers, Jean Richardson and Norman (Cheryl) Rogers; her children, Anton Chadima, James (Teresa) Chadima, Nancy L. Cathel and Vicky (Kenneth) White; grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) Hopp, Thomas (Jill), Shanna, Lindsey and Robin Chadima; great-grandchildren, Iliana Hopp, Matthew and Luc Chadima; as well as countless loving nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12 - 2 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Reinhardt Webel.
