Nancy June Bent DelBove, age 84, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at her home in Suffield, Ohio.
Nancy was born on June 16, 1938 in her home on 8th St. in Kenmore to the late Eugene and Lillian (Champion) Bent. She attended Kenmore high school and lived in Akron most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Richard and James Bent.
She is survived by her 5 children: Patti Holmgren, David (Benay) Holmgren, Terri (Ron) Croghan, Jodi (Kevin) Smith and Ann DelBove. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and her sister, Marilyn Steele.
Growing up on 8th St., Nancy, along with her best friend, Annis, were considered tom-boys. They played sports with the boys in the neighborhood…especially baseball and volleyball. Nancy and Annis were inseparable and always laughing. Even when they were grown, they'd sit at the table with a cup of coffee and chat. When they were tickled about something, once the laughter started, they couldn't stop. Nancy and her sister, Marilyn were the same way. But a sense of humor was only one of Nancy's many wonderful character qualities. She pretty much had them.all.
After Kenmore High School, Nancy married James Holmgren and started a family. Later on, she married Joseph Del Bove. All together, they had five kids. Her kids – Patti, David, Terri, Jodi and Ann gave her 13 grandchildren and 13 greats. Everyone loved her cooking and baking – especially since everything was from scratch. Every year, without fail..when one of her kids had a birthday, they would get a homemade birthday cake. That equals up to 299 homemade birthday cakes!
Nancy was a Christian woman who loved the Lord She attended the Akron Baptist Temple in her early years, and raised her family there. She also sang in the church choir in her 20's. She worked as a manager at Accent on Brass at Quaker Square for quite a few years. Later on, she also worked at Hallmark. But whether at work or working at home, Nancy had an ability to find happiness and fulfillment in her daily activities. The simpliest pleasures in life brought her joy…such as tending to her flower garden. She also found pleasure in music. She enjoyed everything from Christian gospel music to Willie Nelson. Nancy seemed to remember all of the songs of her childhood, which she would sing to her grandchildren while they were growing up. If there was a piano around, she played that, too, while singing one of her silly songs with one of the kids.
In fact, her greatest joy was sharing the unconditional love she had for her children, grandchildren, and the greats. She extended that love, along with her beautiful personality to her large extended family. She was always content in the moment she was in – especially when with a family member. Everyone was made to feel special when Nancy was around, and always with a smile on her face. All of her surroundings were organized, and she had beauty all around her, too.
Nancy sacrificed her life for her family. She always made her loved ones a priority over herself and even as her life was nearing it's end she was praying for her children rather than herself. . All of us will remember her love, and her kind; encouraging words. Nancy was a beautiful; loving Godly woman whose last words were – I want to go be with Jesus. We will greatly miss her.
