Nancy Gene Segner
Nancy Gene Segner. 27 Nov. 1945 – 19 Mar. 2011. Nancy passed peacefully Saturday evening at Akron City Hospital. Members of her immediate family were with her at the end. Nancy is survived by her husband, Charles Segner Jr; her daughter, Kimberly Marquardt and her husband Derek; her grandson, Derek Marquardt; and her mother, Ruth Smith, all from Cuyahoga Falls; her brother, Freddie Smith, a retired Army Colonel, and his wife Regenia from Harvest, Alabama; her brother-in-law, John Segner and his wife Anita from Atlanta, Georgia; and her niece, Laura Elliott and her husband Daniel from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Smith; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles Segner Sr. and his wife Elizabeth Segner. Nancy enjoyed sewing and all manner of crafts. She was active at Redeemer Lutheran Church where she served as an usher, sang in the choir, and was a member of the altar guild. Charles and Nancy were avid campers. They were active in the Coachmen Tire Towners Unit No. 70 and the Wadsworth Blue Tip Good Sam Unit No. 36, where Nancy served as a Chaplin. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Family Life Center. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 23, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24, at 10 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th St., Cuyahoga Falls, with a visitation one hour prior. Pastors Keith Johnson and Al Boehlke will officiate. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
