Nancy Carol Valentine Jackson
August 17, 1939 — June 24, 2023
Nancy {Valentine} Jackson, 83, a resident of Cuyahoga Falls, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Summa Hospice.
She was born Aug. 17, 1939, to LeRoy and Flora {Douglas} Smith. She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and attended The Salvation Army School for Officers Training in Suffern, N.Y.
Nancy was an active member of The Salvation Army for most of her life in both Akron and Barberton, holding leadership in women's ministry for 45 years. She also led Girl Guards, a ministry program for youth. Most recently, she was an active member at Journey Covenant Church in Cuyahoga Falls for 10 years, where she was known as a prayer warrior and started a women's ministry, CAMEO, which stands for Come And Meet Each Other.
Nancy left a legacy of faith, which she passed down to her children. She took great delight camping, crafting, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a social butterfly who took joy in giving to others.
She is survived by her sons, William (Brent) Valentine and fiancé Judy Jones of Cuyahoga Falls, Malcolm (Blair) and Susie Valentine of Springfield Township, Jeanette Valentine (Pastor J) of Cuyahoga Falls, Lynnette (Rocco) Valentine-Warren of Fitchburg, Mass., and Hope (Don) Trachsel of Springfield Township; stepchildren Linda Jackson and Bruce Jackson; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sister Alice Fowler of Seabrook, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her parents; late husbands William Valentine and James Jackson; brother LeRoy Jr.; and sisters Connie Wagner and Flora (Betty) Soley.
All are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Wednesday, June 28th from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., and again from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. with Joe Stone officiating. Following services, Nancy will be cremated, and will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Pantry on the Corner at Journey Covenant Church, 2679 Northhaven Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
