N.C. Avent 88, passed away peacefully in his home with his daughter by his side September 5, 2020 after a brief illness. Born in Bolivar, Tennessee to the late Jessie and Mattie (Perwitt) Avent. He resided in the Akron area for most of his adult life. N.C. accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Deacon Board.
N.C. was a foundry worker, retiring from Akro Mold. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, but mostly with his wife of 66 years before her passing. He enjoyed taking long rides with his family only to end up somewhere to eat. His favorite places being The Golden Corral and anywhere in Hartville. Before his health began to fail, he enjoyed hunting and running his hound dogs here in Ohio, and traveling back and forth to Tennessee to do so with his brother.
N.C was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Roberta, and to this union they had 7 children: James (Maxine) Avent, Monroe Avent, Edward Charles (Rutha) Avent, Mary (Rico) Snell-Gatlin, Lynda (David) Woods, Geraldine Avent, Richard (Detra) Avent.
Also preceded in death by his siblings, J.C. (Isabelle) Avent, James (Edna) Avent, Ida Gregory, Ola Mae Dallas, Mattie Belfield and Roberta Thomas.
He leaves to honor and cherish his memory 12 grandchildren, Edward, Kimberly, Chaunte, Consuelo, Chimere, Fredericka, Charles, Scott, Avanti, Gericka, Sherice and Jerome. 33 great grandchildren and 33 great great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Louise Nelson "Ms. Louise" for being a special part of our parents/grandparent's lives for over 63 years. We want to especially thank you for all your support and care throughout these past few years. We Love You, Ms. Louise, and please know that you're appreciated, and your act of kindness has not gone unnoticed.
