Nelson L. Gerstenslager, 68, of Akron, passed away March 9, 2008. Nelson owned his own salvage company and was an avid collector of guns, knives, and coins. He loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and his father, Norman. He is survived by his sons, Brian (Brenda) and Brent; mother, Kathryn Harig; sisters, Naomi (Lee) Brown and Sandra (George) Barnes; brothers, Norman (Linda), James (Valerie), and Gary; seven grandchildren; and his good friend, Joe Bezold. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12-2 followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N.Canton Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nelson's family.
