Nerieda Ann Riley, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on June 6, 2020. Nerieda was born in Akron on June 23, 1964. She attended Greater Evangelist Temple First Born Church of the Living God Inc. Nerieda graduated from Garfield High School in 1982. She worked at Goodwill, Tops, and Akron Metro MRDD. She loved to spend time with her friends and very large extended family. Nerieda, Nipa, Aunie, Foxy, and Hollywood as she was known, loved helping people. She loved music and dancing and was always keeping it 100. She was loved by many and was considered the neighborhood Nanny, who would Bisqwack and Dogg-walk Yo Ally Quack. She was the Rose Mary's Queen, who loved to get jiggy wit it.
She was preceded in death by mother, Rosa Lee Mills-Rentas; father, Jose (LaVodia) Rentas Sr.; brothers, Stephen J. Crews and Frank Guin; sisters, Gloria Rentas, Ramona Rentas, and Diane Guin; nephews, Bernard Mills and Michael Kirksey; niece, Na'Kya Crawford and Pastor Connie Riley.
She leaves to cherish her memory her life partner, Keith Beavers Sr.; daughters, Burieda (Damone) Riley, Nerieda Bland, and Kerieda Beavers; son, Keith Beavers Jr.; sisters, Joi Mills, Lynn Williams, Renee Guin, and Linda (Derek) Felton; brothers, Jose Rentas II, Carlos (Carmella) Rentas, and Alexander Rentas; grandchildren, Davontre Cohen, Malachi Paige, Tristan James, E'Neriya Gooden, Robert Gooden, and Kerieda Gooden; nephews, Stephen G. Crews, Antonio Mills, Roland Williams, Marcus Grice, Hezekiah (Latessa) Grice, Jose Rentas III, and Travonte Salaam; nieces, Lisette Williams, Latrina Salaam, Sieada Salaam, Kesha Grice, and Kelly Hardwick; special cousin, Rita Mills; special niece, Breauna James; special friends, Marcella Clark, Diedra Nance, Christine Gorman and Burnett Riley. Nerieda is also survived by a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, daughters, sons, godchildren, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews as well as many other extended family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Please plan on observing social distancing practices.
Nerieda's funeral service will be private and limited to immediate family members.
Extended family and friends are welcome to join the family for a repast on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at LaPlace, 1850 Bucholzer Blvd, Akron, OH 44310.
