Nicholas W. Hammerschmidt

Nicholas W. Hammerschmidt, 75, passed away peacefully at home December 31, 2022. Born in Koblenz, Germany, he came to the Youngstown, Ohio area at age 6. He retired from the VA after many years of working as a Registered Nurse. Nick was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, and loved watching them develop into strong men and women. He instilled the value of hard work in everyone he met, often reminding them of his joy in their accomplishments. His greatest passion was spending time with his beloved family.

Nick was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Linda; brother, Hans. He will be sadly missed by his children, Heidi (Jessica), Nick (Elizabeth), Carrie; grandchildren, Tyler (Summer), Ryan, Madeline, Josh, Gavin, Natalie, Kaitlyn; sisters, Inga, Jeanne; stepsons, Matthew, Scott; many other close family and friends.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal services. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Nick's name to the Athletic Boosters of Norton High School and Rootstown High School, where his grandchildren participate in athletics.

He will be forever missed but also forever cherished and remembered.
