Noble E. Sherrard, 83, of Akron, passed away January 18, 2009. Noble was born July 10, 1925 in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late Richard and Georgia Sherrard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and sustained a war injury. He retired from the Akron Health Department after 41 years of service as a deputy director. Noble will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen; son, Richard Sherrard; daughter, Sue Hunyadi; and brothers, Robert and Gene Sherrard. He is survived by his loving wife, June; daughter, Dawn Sherrard of Phoenix, AZ; son, Craig Sherrard of Akron; son in law, Louis "Butch" Hunyadi; daughter in law, Tamara Sherrard; and grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, and Christen. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 3 followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with Pastor Matthew W. McDaniel officiating. Private committal will take place later at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arlington Memorial Baptist Academy, 2330 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44312.
