Noma A. Weakland, 89, passed away on April 1, 2023. The daughter of the late Harold and Geraldine Duke, Noma was born on May 13, 1933.
Noma married her husband Jim on October 8, 1955. Noma and Jim were childhood friends and lifetime partners. Noma's most impressive role was as a wife and mother. She made her house a home for family and friends, always providing homemade, delicious meals served with a warm smile.
Noma enjoyed gardening and canning, was an avid reader and gifted artist. Noma loved traveling and she and her husband made sure to take their family on fun-filled vacations every year. In her later years, Noma enjoyed long road-trips with her two sisters and often spoke of how much she loved that time spent together. She will always be remembered for her caring spirit, her humble nature, her selflessness, and above all, her love for her family. Her children never doubted her love for them as she often spoke of it and always closed every phone call and visit with the words, "love you".
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 59 years James (Jim) Weakland; brothers David Duke and Jimmy Duke; and many brother and sisters in-law.
Noma is survived by her loving family, children Greg (Maria) Weakland, Kathy (Tom) Scheck, Terri (Dave) Cowell, and Diane (Bill) Luli; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Carol (Russ) Allrutz and Linda Mitchell; sisters-in-law Candy Duke, MaryAnn Oliver, Arlene Ciolli (Bob), Evelyn Lowe (Mike), brother-in-law Tom Weakland (Nancy); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A very special thank you to those who lovingly cared for Noma at Shepherd's Gate for the last seven months of her life.
