Norma L. Chewning

Norma Louise Chewning (Ellis), age 80. She slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 19, 2021. We celebrate her life, mourn her loss, and are grateful for her immeasurable love for family and friends.

Norma was born in Akron, Ohio and attended Ellet High School. Norma grew up in the Ellet area. She was an artist and a musician. She loved serving and caring for people. Norma was generous, gifted at hospitality and caring for others. Norma was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.

Norma loved her family with all her heart, she leaves us with precious memories. To loving husband of 63 years, Roemer Lynn Chewning, Norma was his "Earth angel." She was a wonderful mom to her four daughters, Cynthia (Walter) Stroup, Jeanne (George) Baker, Andrea (Tom) Householder, Julie (Dave) Hammett.

She is also survived by her brother, Donald W. Ellis; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Michelle, Melissa, Jeremy, Jon, Brian, Anthony, Jennifer, Angela; and 16 great-grandchildren, Joey, Jacob, Sydney, Miri, Elian, Collette, Isaias, Kiera, Ainsley, Kaleb, Lucas, Kevin, Jackson, Kaylen, Micah and Myles.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Donald K. and Harriet E. Ellis; and five brothers and two sisters.

Family and Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

The funeral service will be following the calling hours at 12:00 PM with Pastor Dave Bogue and Major George Baker, presiding.

Burial will take place following the services at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
