Norma Jean Huff

July 9, 1925 — January 26, 2018

Our mother, Norma Jean Huff, passed on to the gates of Heaven to reunite with so many family and friends on Friday, January 26, 2018. Her pain and suffering are now gone. We will miss you terribly Mom.

Norma Jean was born July 9, 1925 in Akron, Ohio. Her parents were Rex and Jesse Conrad. Norma Jean attended South High School in Akron. She began her career at Goodyear in the data processing department. She worked there during WWII and continued until she had her first child, Sandra. She married Charles Henry Huff and in 1959 they welcomed their first child, Sandra Jane. Norma Jean became a homemaker and in 1966, she and Charles welcomed their second child, Jeffrey Charles. A month after Jeffrey was born, Charles passed away. Norma Jean was left with two small children to raise on her own. She was a strong and courageous woman. Being alone with two small children was not an easy road, especially in 1966. She always made sure we had what we needed, we never went without. Norma Jean was baptized and a member of several Baptist churches through the years; Country Baptist Church, Mogadore Road Baptist Church and Stow Falls Baptist Church.

In later years, Norma Jean was a sitter for many elderly and their families. She was kind, sweet and funny. She loved butterflies, birds, dogs, crossword puzzles and above all, strawberry ice cream. Norma Jean spent the last ten years of her life living at Continuing Health Care of Cuyahoga Falls (formerly Traditions @ Bath Road) in Cuyahoga Falls. She made many friends and truly loved three of her caregivers; Stacy Masselli, Deb Keller, Mary Contessa and Nicole Simmons. Thanks to you for your loving, kind care of our mom. Special thanks to Summa Palliative Care/Hospice; nurses, Aimee, Kerry, Don, Steven and Anne. Her last day with you was peaceful - thanks to your phenomenal loving care. Thank you to family and friends Nelson and Julie Madden, Margery Fox, Janet Huth, Susanne Grywalski and Martha Mussetter for your presence and support in the final days.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, John and Della Coberly; parents, Rex and Jesse Conrad; and half-sister, Judy Senanayake. Left behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Sandra Jane Madden (Huff); much loved son-in-law, Mark Madden; sweet son, Jeffrey Charles Huff; and granddog, Miles Madden, who enjoyed visiting with "Grammy."

Mom, we can't believe you are gone, but know you are at peace and without pain. We were so fortunate to have you for so many years, but it is very difficult to say goodbye. Your love, humor and spunkiness will live on forever in our hearts. Until we see you again, may God hold you in his loving arms. "Love you forever."

Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor Tim Huth officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron, to follow.
