Norma R. Stachowiak

Norma R. Stachowiak, age 81, went home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 11, 2013. She was born on December 1, 1931 in Bismarck, ND to the late Elmer C. and Lucille B. Funston.

Norma was a loving mother and devoted to her family as a homemaker. Her love for others led her to participate in many community and church activities. She was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years, participating in the choir, Vacation Bible School Director and Sunday School teacher. She was also involved with the American Baptist Women's Society and Church Women United. She devoted many hours to Girl Scouts, coaching Softball and Band Parents.

Survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Stachowiak of Green, OH; children, William (Julie) Stachowiak, Susan (John) Voholetz, Robert (Jennifer) Stachowiak, Jr., Barbara (Gregory) Reagan and Judith Stachowiak; grandchildren, Niki, Rebecca (Shane), Ryan, Jessica, Heather, John, Holly, James, Robert, III and Patrick; great granddaughter, Kenna; siblings, Dwaine, Ann, Elaine (Dave), Vera, Beryl, Rhoda, Jerry and Lowell; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305 and one hour prior to the service at the church, 10:00 to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, 1767 Goodyear Blvd, Akron, OH 44305. Memorial contributions in Norma's honor requested to the church.
