Norman Ralph Lund, 88, of Akron, passed away on November 11, 2023. A lifelong resident of Akron, he was born on October 7, 1935 to the late Ralph and Gertrude {Titchworth} Lund.
In addition to his parents, Norm was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley in 2019, their son, Ralph in 2008, dearly loved in-laws George (Gladys) Miller, Bob Cook, Eugene, George Jr. (Pat) and Donald Miller, dear friends Sam Holvey, Gene Voytek, Jim Snyder and Herb Acord.
Norm is survived by his loving children Norma Jean (Roger) Linder, Lisa (Terik) Hartz, Julie (Paul) Taylor and Mark Lund; grandchildren Kat (Izzy), Ryan (Amanda), Alexander, Amy (Ethan), Paul; great-grandchildren Isabella, Bo, Ziggy, Atti and Theo; sister Darleen Cook; sisters-in-law Juanita Albus, Vivian (Mark) Cartmill, Gayle (Bob) Miller and Eileen Miller; friends Vicki Rager, Larry Yeich, Lydia Eggleston, Gary Holland, Donna Nottingham, Barb Bloom, Pastor Paul Bloom and the Community Baptist Family, Charlie and Shirley Buck, Bill Doughty and Don Mackinson; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
The Ellet and Springfield Township neighborhood where Norm's family was raised fostered many friendships among the Lunds, Mr. Trout, Jane, Ron, Josh, the Spidles, Millers, Churchs, Bertha & Earl and the Mathers.
Everyone looked forward to the family Sunday dinners. Norm especially enjoyed playing Rook and other card games, and playing pool with Ralph, Mark and Roger.
Norm was devoted to his family, working two jobs at a time to make sure they were cared for. At 47, he retired from the printing department at Goodyear, with 30 years of service. He also owned and operated his own printing companies, Ellet Graphic Arts with friends/partners Richard Hardy and Joel Marcinko, and Lund Printing, for a combined 50 years. His customers truly became his friends. Norm had a heart of gold, and wag generous to a fault. He would do anything for anyone.
His sister Darleen, wife Shirley and daughter Norma worked with Norm in the family print shop for 30 years. He recruited family and friends when extra help was needed. When Norm sold the family home and business, he moved "down home," to his son Ralph's place in southern Ohio, which he absolutely loved.
He loved the many dogs the family had over the years, including his last dog, Bella. Lisa accepted Bella as part of her family when Norm could no longer take care of her. Special appreciation goes to Lisa, for being Norm's advocate for the last several years.
Norm's family would like to thank the staff at Arbors at Stow and Summa Hospice for their genuine, compassionate care of Norm in his final months.
Per Norm's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will occur at a later date "down home" and potentially a local memorial service. Please contact the family for further information. In lieu of flowers, donations Norm's memory are suggested to your favorite animal shelter, or a charity of your choice.
