O. Al Lewis
Al Lewis, 82, of Springfield Twp., passed away February 7, 2012. He was born February 11, 1929 in Akron to the late Oscar and Arcie Lewis. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Al began as an apprentice at Carmichael Construction. He was the owner of Al Lewis Masonry and later returned to Carmichael Construction as a superintendant. He was a 50+ year member of Bricklayers Local 7 and a 50+ year Mason. Al was an avid golfer and achieved three holes-in-one. Al will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanie Lewis; children, Michael, Dianna, and Alan (Beckie) Lewis; grandchildren, Trevor, Shelby, Paul, Michelle, Caroline, Adam, Nicole, Megan, and Kristen; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Sherill Word and Pat (Michael) Darnell; and many nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his siblings, Hayden, Bernice, and Norma. Family and friends may call on Friday February 10 from 3-7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. conducted by Wayfarer Lodge 789 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place on Monday February 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
