Odie M. Kilgore
Odie M. Kilgore passed away peacefully on June 25, 2008 after living 95 wonderful years with us. She was a very caring person who thought only of others rather than herself. Anyone in need or sick, she was always there. After losing her vision years ago, she is now rejoicing seeing her loved ones in Heaven: her husbands, Asa L. Gibson, John G. Jameson, and Thomas L. Kilgore; sons, Willard D. Gibson and John R. Jameson; brother, Bob Holland; sisters, Inez Somosko and Agnes Carnahan; and parents, Robert and Bertha Holland. Odie was born in Cullman, Alabama on July 15, 1913. She came to Ohio at a very young age. She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after working for 38 years as a Band Builder. She raised three families and loved everyone. She was noted for the poems she wrote, which are a special gift left for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Earleene Ciganik of Shalersville, OH; sons, Wilford R. Gibson (Dale) of Chandler, AZ, John A. Jameson (Kathy) of Cuyahoga Falls, and Darren R. Jameson of Akron; brother, Jim Holland and sister, Ruby Beckett, both of Akron; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She has had six generations in her lifetime. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Friends and family may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mel Grubaugh officiating. Odie will be buried at Rose Hill Burial Park beside her husband, Thomas L. Kilgore, who passed away July 10, 2005. The family wishes to thank Dr. Carol Savan and Hospice Care Center for all they did to care for Odie.
