Orvan Daniel Beachy (Dan)
Orvan Daniel Beachy, 80, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2010. Dan was born On June 17, 1929. He was a faithful member of Community Baptist Temple, having served as a deacon and a church bus driver. Above all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a living testimony of the love of Christ to all who knew him. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Lizzie Beachy; two sisters and one brother; granddaughter, Tara Hicks; and infant, Robin. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Janet; children, Karen (Raymond) Timms, Lynne (Stan) Roach, Cheryl (Rick) Thompson, Melody Hicks, Janet (David) Vance, Beth (Chuck) Shillings, Orvan Jr. "Chip" (Stacey) Beachy, and Laura Beachy; twenty-six grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. He was also a father to thirty-four foster children. Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 21 from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Visitation on Friday, January 22 from 9-10 a.m. followed by an 10 a.m. funeral service at Community Baptist Temple, 1398 Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Glendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dan's family.
