Pamela Richards

Pamela Richards, known to her loved ones as Pam, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2023, in Akron, Ohio. She was 65 years old. Pam was born on August 25th, 1957, in Akron, to Edward and Marie Kanis. She attended Springfield High School and went on to study at The University of Akron.

Pam worked as a bus driver for Waterloo Local School District then getting her degree as a Medical Assistant from The University of Akron. Her career includes being a phlebotomist at Akron Children's Hospital, Medical Assistant for Dr. John P. Robinson and as a personal caregiver where she dedicated many years to helping others. She was known for her kind and compassionate nature, and she touched the lives of many.

Pam had a passion for tending to her plants and flowers, lounging in her pool, and socializing with her many close friends. She particularly enjoyed escaping Ohio winters with her good friend, Pat with warm beaches and cold cocktails in Puerto Rico. Pam also was very proud of her grandson and enjoyed sharing his accomplishments with others.

Pam is survived by her husband, Paul Richards; her daughter, Shawna Dilauro; her grandson, Christian Dilauro; her silbings, Jackie (Don) Boyd, Cheryl (Steve) Slusarczyk, Karen Kanis and Anthony Kanis; and her sister-in-law, Pamela Westling.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward J Kani, her mother, Marie A Kanis; and brother, Edward Kanis Jr.

A visitation and service to celebrate Pam's life will be held at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:00 am to 11:00 am with service to follow at 11:00 am.

A celebration of Pam's life is scheduled for a later date.
