It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Gail Carr-Owen, who left this world on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the age of 75. Patricia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Pat was born on January 27, 1949 in Akron, OH to Morgan Helmick and Joyce Daniels. Patricia's life was a testament to her devotion to God, her joy in creating, and her delight in sharing her creations with others. Her faith was a guiding light, inspiring all who knew her with her kindness, grace, and generosity.
Patricia was the bank manager at White Sands Federal Credit Union in Truth or Consequences, from its inception to her retirement in 2008. She was also a faithful member at the Church at the Butte. She loved attending Bible Study.
Patricia had a profound love for gardening, finding solace and joy in tending to her plants and creating beautiful, serene spaces. Travel was another of Patricia's great joys. She cherished exploring new places, embracing different cultures, and making memories with those she loved. Her adventures often provided inspiration for her other passion—quilting. Patricia poured her heart into crafting exquisite quilts, each one a labor of love and a testament to her creativity and skill. She truly enjoyed challenge of making quilts of all sizes, pushing the norm with her unique color designs and patterns. She also made table runners and wall hangers, and floral arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Elbert Emery Owen; her daughter, Kimberly Cochran (Chad); step children- Rustin Owen (Crystal) and Tiffany Dekruif (Bruce); grandchildren- Robert Prater (Carley), Emily Owen, Aspen Owen, Ratana Owen, Justin Jhonson and JD Jhonson; great grandchildren- Collin Prater and Wade Prater; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Morgan Helmick, Jr.; sisters: Peggy Schubert, Pamela Sutton and Tammy Sears.
Patricia's spirit will continue to live on through the beauty of her gardens, the warmth of her quilts, and the countless lives she touched with her love and faith. She will be remembered with fondness and cherished in our hearts forever.
Graveside services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Rd. Akron, 44312 on Wednesday, August 21st at 12:00 p.m., where Patricia will be laid to rest.
