Patricia A. Dawson (Pat or Patty) passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of family.

On April 7, 2025, they will celebrate their remarkable 63rd wedding anniversary together, proving that love knows no bounds.

She was a secretary by profession, but she was most proud of her time working as a front hotel desk clerk and night auditor. She was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 40 plus years. She was also a member of Amaranth True Kindred and White Shrine. Alongside her husband, she raised their daughters in the New Apostolic Church. For many years, she was a devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Richfield.

She was a crochet and loom knit enthusiast. She had been trying to learn Tunisian Crochet for the past couple of years. Due to her health issues, she was currently residing at The Colony Healthcare, where she was eager to share her loom knitting skills with others. She had a collection of dolls that her husband had gifted her during Christmas. She cherished her family and loved spending time in nature, especially camping.

Her Life was a Blessing, her Memory a treasure, she is Loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure by her sister Sarah Schoolcraft, daughters Tracy (Ken McKay) Dawson, Karen Dawson of NC, and Terry (Jason) VanHorn. As well as grandchildren, Kailee (Joshua) Biller, Cassandra (Matt) Kokal, James VanHorn, Sage Whaeler and great-grandchildren, Blake and Alexis Biller and Brantley and Olivia Kokal. Many nieces, nephews and grands as well as friends’ children that have been touched by her caring and kind heart. And her dog, Susie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dawson, her mother, Patricia Wise (father, Elwood Wise), first baby daughter, Mary Elizabeth, nephew-in-law, (9) Donald Payne Jr., brother-in-law, Troy Schoolcraft, Sister-in-law, Virginia Payne, Brother-in-law, Daniel Crosser, Sister-in-law, Ruthie Crosser, Brother, Donald E Payne, Sister-in-law, Dalette Dawson and Grandson (14) Chandler C. VanHorn and Grandson (29) David Dawson.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Colony for their unwavering love and care.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. followed by the Funeral Service with Eastern Star and Amaranth ceremonies at 1 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for final expenses.
