Patricia D. Brown, 61, passed away at the Hospice Care Center into the arms of the Lord on August 18, 2010. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Born in Akron, she graduated from Coventry High School, retired from Home Builders Association of Greater Akron, and was a member of the Firestone Prime Timers, Copley Lions Club, and Wintergreen Ledges Church of God. She loved to travel, play various board and card games, cook, shop for bargains, and spend time at their cabin at Salt Fork Resort, but mostly she enjoyed anything that involved being with her family and friends. After battling multiple illnesses over the last ten years with strength, determination, a positive attitude and a smile for those around her, she is now at rest with her Savior. Preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Leota Bechter; sister, Joan Casseday; brother, Larry Bechter; and son, Michael Burns. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Delmar Brown; children, Cheryl Burns, Debra Burns, Bernard (Cathy) Burns, Wendy (Mark) Michl, Candy (Tom) Higgenbaugh, Cindy (Mike) Frazier; her brother, Ralph (Patsy) Bechter; and her faithful pet Labrador, Lizzie. She was so proud of her twelve grandchildren, Taylor, Nicole, Cassidy, Bernie, Aydin, Kelsey, Tommy, Alyssa, Rebekah, Sarah, Marley, and Justin. Having been a kidney transplant recipient, organ donation was an extremely important cause that she supported. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to the National Transplant Association Foundation. Calling hours will be Sunday, 1-5 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
