Patricia Alice Hobbs (nee Mervine), age 84, of Ellet, passed into her peace at 11:28 a.m. on February 7, 2022, at Akron General Medical Center. May God rest her soul. In loving attendance was her granddaughter Patti.
She was born in Akron, Ohio, on February 18, 1938, to the late Walter William and Bonnie Belle (Lipford) Mervine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Hobbs; son, James Michael Hobbs; granddaughters, Misty Dawn McClelland and Jaclynn Rae Hobbs; grandson, Mark Alan "Little Guy" McClelland; and great-grandson Jackson Hobbs Kufchak.
Pat attended Garfield and Hower high schools, and was a graduate of Gerber Beauty School, in Akron. She enjoyed working at Ladies' Choice hair salon until retirement. She loved her vocation. A rare beauty herself, being a beautician was her lifelong passion. She believed it was a very important endeavor, and it was her gift to give, to "make people feel pretty." She lived for her family, and was a magnificent homemaker and cook! She loved music, especially country music; dancing, and was talented at her hobbies of flower arranging and interior decorating. Pat never met a stranger, and had such style, charm and charisma, that when she turned it on, she was the limelight in any crowd! Fun, passionate, and mischievous, she could wrap any room around her finger! She worked hard, played hard, loved hard, and when she needed to fight, she fought hard. She was extremely sentimental, and when she loved, she loved thoroughly, and when she hurt, she hurt deep. She was strong and brave. She lived. With a personality so large and magnetic, it's safe to say that anyone who ever knew her, will never forget her.
Pat leaves to mourn her passing, daughters, Mickie Brown, Terry (Alan) McKee, Bonnie Hobbs, and JoAnna (Mark) McClelland; son, Walter Hobbs; grandchildren, Karia (Craig) Lanken, Jesse (Lindsay) Hobbs, Jillian Hobbs, Ryan Hobbs, Patricia (Jerome) Dean, Jamie Medina, Sissy McClelland, Sara Hobbs, and Heather (Nick) Fling; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Faith, Aiden, Samantha, Christopher, Serenity, Zayden, Caleb, Alivia, Joanna "Jojo", Mariah, Awtaim, Sumer, Kylee, Kenny, Jace, Meredith, Savannah, Dawn and Axel; sister, Elsie Knight; nephew, Rickie (Linda) Knight; nieces, Kellie (Rick) Cunningham and April Knight; and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews, each and every one a treasure to her. Also left to mourn her passing are her friends, neighbors, and many special friends of her children, who she adopted in her heart. The list is long, but especially includes Sandra Norman, Jenny Barr, Jeff Pike, and James Burnley,.
There will be no formal services at this time, due to Covid-19. Cremation was arranged by Newcomer Funeral Home, and has taken place. A celebration of Patricia's life will be held outdoors, in the summertime, and will be announced. There was nothing Pat enjoyed more than a grand party, with lots of food, and all her precious ones in attendance. In the meantime, peace be with you. "In my father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2
Patricia could not stand the thought of anyone going hungry, and she would cook and send food, in mass quantities, to anyone in need. She checked on people regularly and kept tabs on their pantry. In tribute to her, the family requests that you always feed one another. Donations in her memory can be made to the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank 350 Opportunity Pkwy., Akron, 44307. 330-535-6900.
