Patricia E. (Wylie) Oeltjen, 85, of Akron, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018 after a long battle with COPD.
Pat was born on October 7, 1932 to the late Clarence and Gename Wylie, in Lafollette, Tennessee. She lived the majority of her life in Akron, graduating from Ellet High School. Pat worked prior to marriage at United Airlines and Harwick Standard. She was an old-school stay at home mom, who ironed everything, made sure her family had 3 good meals everyday, and was constantly cleaning up after her sons. Pat was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying watching her sons and grandchildren participate.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald R. Oeltjen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Nan Wylie, Eddie and Barb Wylie.
She is survived by sons, Mark and David of Akron and Jeff of Homestead, Florida. Pat also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Marisa (Josh Koepnick), Scott (Krissy) and Erica Oeltjen; great-grandson, Oscar Oeltjen; sister-in-law, Shirley Hall of North Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank The Briarwood Assisted Living Facility staff and residents for their care and companionship. Also, thanks to the Asera Care Hospice for their support.
Per Pat's request, no public services will be observed.
