Patricia Ann Rogacs

March 15, 1952 — January 5, 2023

Patricia Ann Rogacs "Patty", born March 15, 1952, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023.
She is survived by many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Rogacs; mother, Mary Palmeri Rogacs; brother, Lewis Rogacs Jr.; and all her other relatives who went home to be with the Lord.
Patty was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish for many years. She volunteered and was a church Lecturer for church services. She committed her life to the Lord and walked her path in life dedicated to helping others in need.
She studied mental health and after earning her degree, she spent her career working with people living with mental illness. She was dedicated to helping those who had disabilities and met many special individuals over the years.
Patty was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated over 30 years of sobriety. She helped many others maintain their sobriety over the years as well.
She was a very compassionate, kind, and loving person who truly cared for the well-being of others. She had a way about her that drew others to her, touching their hearts and souls. Those she mentored and those who knew her well knew she was a special person, as she had a kindred spirit and aura about her. She knew how to make people smile and feel gratitude and joy.
For seventeen years, Pat and her kitty cat Heidi were best of friends. Heidi was a loving companion and after learning to walk on a leash, she and Patty shared good times on walks outside.
Patty loved bowling for many years, traveling, the outdoors, sitting by the fire, and short road trips. She liked the TV series Downton Abbey and always dreamed about visiting England's beautiful castles and countryside. She attended an affair at the Akron Civic Theater called "The Downton Abbey Evening" on December 13, 2015, which she enjoyed immensely.
Patty loved to laugh and have fun with others. She enjoyed all kinds of music and dancing. She also loved a good cup of coffee and sweets. Whenever she had visitors, she put on another pot of coffee and served a platter of yummy things. She also liked going out to dinner, especially ethnic cuisine. And of course, she loved a can of diet soda pop.
Patty's beautiful smile will always be etched in our memory.
She faced many health challenges and personal obstacles, yet she always persevered. She was steadfast, determined, strong-willed, a character, and courageous no matter what she faced. She was very independent and made sure she fulfilled all her financial and personal obligations. She did things her way and in her style up to the last day of her life. She was small but mighty.
Patty fought through a courageous battle with cancer for 1 1/2 years. If desired, donations may be made on her behalf to the American Cancer Society or Blessed Trinity Parish.
Special thank you to everyone who gave her care, love, and friendship during this time. Thank you beyond words and much appreciation to Patty's oncology doctor and her team. Also, special thanks to all the staff, nurses, nurses aides, and doctors at Akron General/Cleveland Clinic, Summa Hospital/Summa Hospice, Pinacle Nursing/Rehab Facility, Arbors, Timberland Ridge, Holy Cross Cemetery, Newcomer Funeral Home, Blessed Trinity Parish staff, Pastor, and Deacon, as well as all her social workers, agencies, and individuals who personally cared for Patty in her home over the years.
Per Patty's wishes, she will be privately laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
