Patricia A. Tyner died December 4, 2023 surrounded by her family.
She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio to the late Gibson and Norma Pitts (Ashcraft). Patricia graduated from Ellet High School in 1950. She married Aubrey Tyner in 1952, secured a job to save money while Aubrey was serving in the Marines, during the Korean war. In 1956, Patricia began her pursuit of motherhood and raising their two boys. Once the boys were in high school Patricia procured employment at Kent State University working for 20 years, retiring in 1993 as secretary for the Dean of the home economics department.
Patricia and her husband Aubrey left no time squandered; retirement was always something they planned to do well, and boy did they! For 16 years, as soon as we Ohioians would have to turn on the heat Patricia would begin planning and packing, soon to hop into their van and travel South to the Rio Grande Valley, in Texas, where they lived in a retirement community for the Winter. Riding bikes, visiting Mexico, playing dominoes, but most importantly square dancing with their friends. Patricia will be remembered as a kind, loving, tell it like it is sassafras.
Patricia Tyner was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Aubrey Austin Tyner Jr., and her son Michael David Tyner. She is survived by her sister Teresa Lance (Tim), son Jeffrey Alan (Kris), granddaughter Shannon Galambos (Brian), grandsons, Jeffrey Scott Tyner (Kayla) and Bradley Gibson Tyner (Rebecca), great-grandchildren Mason and Kameron, nephews Shawn Lance (Luis), niece Katie Lance, sister in law Judy Avellino (Steve).
