Patricia Y. Gower

Patricia Y. Gower, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many peacefully passed away on December 6 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years Dale E. Gower, brother Robert Miller, sisters JoAnn Sloan and MaryAnn Cooper. She is survived by son Michael, daughter Millie (Ed) Uhl, granddaughters Katie and Sara Uhl, Brad Thornburg; nephews David and Brian (Amy) Cooper, great nephew and niece Sam and Maya Cooper, brother Clyde Miller. Patricia was trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse and was formerly employed by Akron Children's Hospital. She worked in the Neo-Natal unit where she was a loving caregiver to many premature babies. A deeply devoted Christian, she was active in many different aspects of church life which included teaching Sunday school for many years and being active in various church organizations. In their retirement years she and Dale enjoyed the close friendships of the Ambassadors group. When not spending time with family and friends she would be found gardening, reading Christian Amish books and shopping. Family life was very important to Patricia. She and her husband Dale especially enjoyed family get togethers. Her pride and joy, in addition to her children, are granddaughters Sara and Katie who are following her footsteps in the nursing profession. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Road, Akron). Funeral Services officiated by Pastor Jon Stoltzfus will be held Friday at 11am at the Chapel Hill Christian Church (1160 Howe Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls) followed by interment at Tallmadge Cemetery.
