Paul Darius "Smiley" Bittinger

Paul Darius "Smiley" Bittinger, 71, went home to be with the Lord on April 3, 2007. Born in Grantsville, MD on March 23, 1936, Paul had lived in Akron for most of his life. He retired with 30 plus years from Goodyear. He also had Smiley's Used Car Lot for many years. When asked his favorite song, he would reply, "Victory in Jesus". Preceded in death by his parents, Darius and Frances Bittinger; first wife, Patty Ann; and son Paul Michael. Paul is survived by his wife of nearly 21 years, Ruby; daughter Karen Beckett of Letart, WV and her children Kareena (Larry) Runyon and their son, David of New Haven, WV, and January Beckett and her sons, Nathan and Justin of New Haven, WV; daughter Susan Bittinger and her son Jeremiah, of Akron; son John (Becky) of Akron; 2 granddaughters that he raised, Maxine of Orlando, FL and Natasha of Brewster, OH; stepchildren Jennifer (David) Sherrin and their children Tracy and Keith, Yvonne, Mark, and Tami and their families; brothers David (Shirley), Lloyd (Evelyn), and Leonard (Linda) of Akron and Stanley (Sheila) of Cadiz, OH; sisters Lois (Hank) Carter and Grace Lopez of Akron and Mary (Bob) Gemberling and Sarah (Don) Broom of Grantsville, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
