Paul E. Johnston, 78, of Green, passed away August 13, 2008 at his residence. He was born January 1, 1930 in Akron, Ohio to the late John W. & Catherine (Hopkins) Johnston. Paul was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and most recently had been attending Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He retired from the Ford Motor Company with 30 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling especially to Alaska, having been there 18 times. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine A. Johnston; brothers, Phillip and William Johnston; sisters, Donna Cooper and Mary Louise Brown. He is survived by his son, Raymond A. (Dolores) Maynard; daughters, Sandra Praznik, Catherine Lorie Martin, Cecile M. Tepus, Debra (Thomas) Henley and Paulette C. (Jimmy) Branch; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Marge Near; numerous nephews, nieces and good friends. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial mass will take place on Wednesday, August 27 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church beginning at 12:00 p.m.
