Paul D. Hill, 87, got his wings on September 3, 2018. A longtime Akron resident, he was born on April 13, 1931 in Kite, GA to late parents Albert and Nadine (Mathis) Hill. Paul enjoyed traveling with his family, rooting for the Indians, Cavaliers, and Browns, taking photographs, and working on cars. He proudly served in the United States Army, after which he worked for and retired from Chrysler after 31 years of service. Following his retirement, Paul worked for the City of Akron as a crossing guard for Akron Public Schools and delivered papers for the Akron Beacon Journal.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by brothers, Millard, Prentice, Albert Jr., and sister, Ruby D. Spears. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Geneva; daughters, Karryll Hill, Lenore Merritt; grandchildren, Jacara (Deshon) Reynolds, Johnny, Kenneth, Dierre, Martel, Devante; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Grady (Eunice), Jerome, Lucious (Dorothy), Rufus; longtime best friend, Henry Vickers; and many other family and friends.
Calling hours Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 1-3pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will begin at 3pm. Cremation to take place at a later date. Condolences may be sent to 1702 Nutwood Rd., Akron, OH 44305.
