Pauline Spencer
Pauline Spencer, 98, of Akron, passed away July 9, 2013. She was born on September 8, 1914 in Montrose, West Virginia to the late Dale and Mary Swisher. In 1930, she married Brooks Spencer and began their family. When Brooks was drafted into the U.S. Navy, Pauline ran their home and raised their six children on her own. She enjoyed flowers and arts and crafts. Above all, she was devoted to her family.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Brooks; son, Darl Spencer; daughter, Janet Cook; twin sister, Geraldine Corley; siblings, Macil Tucker, Carl Swisher, and Dorsey Swisher; grandson, Richard Ice; sons-in-law, Charles Simmons and Bill Cook. She will be deeply missed by her children, Dorothy Simmons, Don (Phyllis) Spencer, Melba (Carl) Ice, Jean (Jim) Norcom, and daughter-in-law, Mildred Spencer; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and special caregiver, Melissa.
Family and friends may call TODAY, July 11 from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. with her grandson, Allen Simmons officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
