Peter David Kovac

Peter David Kovac Sr., 79, of Tallmadge, passed away on March 10, 2022. Pete was born in Akron on April 20, 1942 and graduated from James Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland. Following graduation, Pete joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as an MP. He was honorably discharged after six years of service and returned to Northeast Ohio. He was a driver for Consolidated Freightways, retiring in 1995 after 27 years employment and over 2 million accident free miles. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 24, retiring in 1995.
Pete had many interests, including photography and boats. After retirement, Pete continued traveling across the country. He documented all his trips with photos and journals.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Marguerite "Irene" and Norman Jahnke and father, Peter Kovac.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Barbara (Robert) Kovac-Cuckler and Peter Kovac Jr.; grandchildren, John, Andrew, Aidan, and Mikayla; many friends and other family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 10-12 followed by a 12 noon memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Following the service, Pete will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery in Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
