Peter M. Westergaard

Peter M. Westergaard, 93, of Akron, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 15, 2016. He was born in Denmark on May 11, 1922 to the late Aksel and Esther Westergaard.
Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 36 years of service. He was a longtime member of Lakemore United Methodist Church.
Peter had many interests including HAM radios, reading Westerns, ballroom dancing, and oil painting. He loved going out to eat and attending dinners at the Springfield Senior Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Beverly Sutton; and grandson, Sean Sutton. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Tom Westergaard and Ken (Becky) Westergaard; sisters, Kate Switzer and Sonya Merrill; grandchildren, Barbara (Michael) Huskey, Ckris Snyder, Holley Sutton, and Kaia Westergaard; great-grandchildren, Jacqui, Tori (Will), Rorri, Mavrick, and Deklin; great-great-grandchildren, Draven, Kendra, Castor, and Cali; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 10-12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Akron, OH 44312. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
