Philip H. Haston, 72, passed away suddenly on January 9, 2010. He was born on January 8, 1938 in Spencer, TN and had been a resident of Akron for the past 52 years. He retired from Wonder Bread after 42 years of service as a maintenance mechanic. Phil enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, but his greatest love was his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved dog Lady. He was a caring and compassionate man who had many friends and was loved by all. Preceded in death by his parents Philip Haston and Beulah Swindell. Survivors include his fiancé Patti Wagner; daughters Cynthia Haston and Lisa Steele; son John Wagner; brother Joe Thomas (Margie) Haston; grandchildren Nicole and Brittany Steele and Claire and Andrew Tsukuda; nephews Thomas Haston and Tim Johnson; and many dear friends including Sue and Dave Lacy, Sandy and Larry Kitchen, Angie Adams, and Paige McCann. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
