Phillip D. Setree, 63, of Akron, passed away December 16, 2008 after a brave battle with ankylosing spondylitis. Phillip was born in Akron on January 22, 1945. He had a kind, gentle soul and was loved by everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his love of children and his good sense of humor. Phillip had many careers and most recently drove a cab for Yellow Cab Co. He was very proud of pitching a no hitter softball game for the Yellow Cab team. Phillip was a member of Victim's Assistance after having survived an attack on his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mickey and Kathleen and brothers, Clark and Kevin. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 17 years, Jill; brother, Victor (Vivian); cousin, Bill; nieces, Joann, Leah, Karen, Rachel, and Becky; nephews, Shaun, Keith, Kevin, Kenneth, Warren, and Wesley; numerous grand nieces and grand nephews; and other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
