Phillip "Phil" Russell, 66, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2017. He was born October 6, 1950 in Akron to late parents Charles and Pauline Russell. Phil was a very fun, friendly, passionate and outgoing guy. From early in his life he was involved in sports, especially baseball and football, and was proud to be quarterback of his Central High School team. He enjoyed making memories with his family at Tribe games, and cooking delicious meals for his family all year round. He enjoyed summertime at the backyard pool, grilling for his family, and trips to the casino with Mary. Phil retired after 42 years of service at Parker Hannifin.
Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry; and beloved dogs, Jack and Dexter. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mary; daughters, Laura (Bryan) Carter, and Lisa (Chris) Pullen; grandchildren, Emma, Allison, Olivia, Zachary, Riley, TJ, Nadia, Natalie; brothers, "Wink" (Barb), Don (Betty), Tom (Rosie); sisters, Marie (Paul), Charlotte (Jerry), Libby (John); sister-in-law, Cheryl Russell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 10am-12pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial celebration will be held at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood to the American Red Cross. The family would like to say "thank you" to the staff at the Hospice Care Center.
