Phyllis M. Chinrock, 79, peacefully entered into heaven on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016. Phyllis was born on July 8, 1936 in Akron, Ohio to Aster and Myrtle Davidson. She loved the Lord , her friends and, most of all, her family. Phyllis was a longtime member of The Chapel and had many good friends in Eloy Pacheco's Sunday School class. She also attended Arlington Memorial Baptist Church.
Phyllis graduated in 1954 from Garfield High School and still had lunch once a month with her high school friends,"Club". She had been employed by P&S Ambulance, Firestone Bank/ Banc One and owned her own flower business, "Flowers by Phyllis". However, she always said that her favorite job was baby-sitting her grandchildren. Phyllis loved people and also volunteered at Jesus Said Ministries, First Night, Akron Civic Theater, Edwin Shaw Hospital, Quail Hollow State Park and the PTA's of Seiberling, Goodyear Jr. High and East High School. She loved decorating for all the holidays, baking thousands of Christmas cookies and making her homemade caramel corn.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Astor Davidson; sister, Willie Harter; brother-in-laws, Al Moutz and Bud Clevenger; sister-in-law, Norma Chinrock; nephews, David Clevenger and Phil Mauldin; grandson, infant Michael Carter.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul; children, Dean (Cindi), Dan (Terri), Donna, Paula (Alan); grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn (Shawn), Alaina (Greg),Ryan,Cody (Brittany), Hannah, Adam (Alexis); great grandchildren, Nathyn, Kaylee, Callah; sisters, Juanita Moutz and Jean Clevenger; sister-in-law, Katherine Evans; brother-in-law,Steve Chinrock.
Family will receive friends on, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. A Memorial service will follow.
Donations may be made to Jesus Said Ministries, American Cancer Society or Juvenile Diabetes Association in Phyllis's Honor.
