Placido "Paul" Ciraldo, 83, passed away peacefully May 4, 2020.
Paul was born April 15, 1937 in Bronte, Sicily to the late Alfio and Nunzia (Catania) Ciraldo and lived there until the age of eighteen before traveling by ship across the Atlantic Ocean and arriving in Akron, Ohio in 1955, where he made his home until his death. He found his American dream working as an Inspector at the Atlantic Foundry for 32 years - providing the means and incredible work ethic for his family to deeply appreciate. In 1959, he married Joyce Marie (Dane) and together raised five sons.
We were deeply blessed by Paul's selfless love of family and unwavering courage, determination and perseverance with everything he faced in his lifetime. Paul loved being a husband and father, a grandfather and great-grandfather. His favorite hobby was boating, vacationing and fishing in Marblehead, Lake Erie with his sons and spending time with his family. His joy of life never waned despite the many hardships a long life endures.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his dear wife Joyce Marie, son Carl Thomas, sisters Ninetta and Graziella, brothers Ignazio and Antonino.
Paul is survived by his sons, Ralph (Lori), David (Cindy), John, Antonino (Ann), and Paul (Diane); grandchildren (Heather, Amber, Tiffany, Anna, Christopher, Joseph, James, Veronica, Matthew, William, Christina and Benjamin); seven great-grandchildren; sister Vincenza (Guido) Cornacchione; brother Louis (Nancy) Ciraldo and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was a member of St. Anthony Church where a private mass of Christian Burial will be held. Paul's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery.
