Past National Commander, Rev. Jeffrey S. Gibson, Sr. passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021. He was a resident of Akron, OH and a Commander of Army & Navy Garrison 273 in Lakemore, OH.
Rev. Gibson was a kind and caring man who loved to sing, read old Westerns, watch boxing on TV, fishing, his family and friends, and most of all, God. He was an honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran, who served in the Bay of Pigs in 1961. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, AmVets, and the Army Navy Union. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years, Diana {Barker} Gibson, his brother, and his parents Robert and Dorothy {Yancey} Gibson.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Gibson Jr.; step-son Donald Barker; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his extended family, including his loving partner Janet Savich, her children and grandchildren.
Special thanks to all of his Army and Navy comrades, and especially his dear friend Carl Goode.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Donations can be made to the Army Navy Garrison 273 in Lakemore, OH. Anyone with information on Jeffrey's children, please contact Newcomer Funeral Home at 330-784-3334.
