Pranas "Frank" Leika
Pranas Leika, 91, passed away on January 30, 2006. He was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. While growing up in Lithuania he was a farmer, mayor of his village and served in the Lithuanian Army during WWII. He lived to see the USSR collapse and Lithuania be independent again.
Until his retirement, he was a contractor in upstate NY and along with his wife operated Mountain High Lodge. He was an independent and energetic man who worked hard to support his family and build a new life in America. He is survived by his daughter, Maria Burns of Navarre, FL, his son Algys "Alan" Leika, Akron, two grandchildren, Holly Black of Navarre, FL and Patrick Burns of Prescott, AZ, six great grandchildren and brother Jonas Leika. He goes to God to meet his mother Teufile Putelevicute, Father Jurgis Leika, sister, and brother Peter Leika.
Calling hours will be Sunday, February 5 from 7-9 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, OH 44305. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 6 at 12 noon at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries, P O Box 547, Akron, OH 44309. Online condolences can be made at www.newcomerfamily.com.
