Ralph E. Grunder
Ralph E. Grunder, 78, of Akron, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2008. Ralph was born in Akron on April 6, 1930 to the late Harold G. and Marjorie E. (Saunders) Grunder. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1948 and was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Ralph was a meat cutter for 45 years. He was employed at Del Farms, KMart, and Ellet Meat Market before retiring from Hartville IGA in 1995. In his free time, Ralph was an avid bowler and belonged to several leagues over the years. He also enjoyed fishing, chess, and was a fan of the Browns and the Indians. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 1/2 years, Florence (Carol) Grunder; daughter, Jean A. Garcia; son, Glen E. Grunder; sister, Mary Horton; and grandchildren, Kristen and Anthony Garcia. Ralph's family would like to thank Dr. Radwany and the Summa Palliative Care and Hospice Unit for all their care. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-4 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. funeral service at Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave., Pastors Andrew Hamilton and Kris Hawk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Springfield Church of the Brethren or Summa Palliative Care.
