Ralph "Junior" Smith, 78, of Akron, went home to be with his Lord and join his loving wife on July 24, 2012. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on August 21, 1933 to the late Ralph and Beulah Smith. He moved to Akron in 1955.
Junior retired after 40 years of service from Goodyear Tire & Rubber. During his career, he also worked for Goodrich, Dolly Madison, Norka Bottling, and wherever needed to support his 6 children.
Junior had many hobbies. He loved gun and archery hunting, cars, motorcycles, golf, bowling, movies, and read 1400 books after retiring.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta "Omagene"; parents; sister, Hazel Smith; brothers, Burrell and Herbert Smith.
Junior is survived by his devoted children Ronald (Donna-Marie), Robin (Bruce) Smyth, Lonnie (Nancy), Letitia (Gale) Wells, Thomas (Teresa), and David; also by sister Catherine Phillips; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-granddaughters; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and faithful friends.
Family and friends may call on Friday July 27 from 5-8 PM and Saturday July 28 from 10-11 AM at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sherman Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Reger Chapel Church Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to Reger Chapel Church Cemetery in WV or Chapel of Prayer in Akron.
